Audiobooks

Let someone else do the reading. Here are a few of the audio books that I have been listening to on my commute to and from work on my free iPod. If you create a new account on Audible through these links and buy a book, then I get an audio credit.

The Kingdoms of the Elves of Reaches
This one is the first of a series of books. I didn’t like it too much. There is too much adult story lines here. I prefer much imagination and child-like fantasies.

Barry Trotter and the Unauthorized Parody
I went overboard here. Barry Trotter is a little too funny for its own good. When every sentence is made to be funny, it gets hard to pay attention to what is going on - if anything really is going on. I still haven’t been able to make it through this book.

Eragon: The Inheritance Trilogy, Book 1
This was a really good book. There was so much going on. A boy finds a dragon egg and his life changes. The book goes through so much detail of places that he travels in order to seek revenge of his dead uncle. He has a mentor who teaches him the ancient language of magic as well as how to think before doing.

Eldest: The Inheritance Trilogy, Book 2, Volume I
Eldest: The Inheritance Trilogy, Book 2, Volume II
The second book of Inheritance. A great deal of Elvish history and culture is explained. We also learn more about Urgles. His cousin begins his own adventures. As both men transform into different people, you are brought along to hear there deepest thoughts and there reasoning for there actions. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents America (The Audiobook): A Citizen’s Guide to Democracy Inaction
John Stewart puts American history in a different light. I am sure that the framers would be insulted to hear such comedy, but would be proud that he could get away with it in this country. Some points in how the government works is actually sticking in my head now.

The Wee Free Men
A really fun little adventure of a little girl armed with a frying pan, a book about curing sheep, and a band of pixies trying to rescue her baby brother from an evil queen. The girl who is becoming a witch learns that it isn’t all about what she thought it was. Being a witch is mostly about working out problems. One of my favorite lines is “Just because you know how something works, doesn’t mean that it isn’t magic anymore”. This line seems to apply to the wonders that I perform at my day job.
