Tarot through Spice and Thyme

Today I was looking over at Kareena’s Grimoire. Not only does she have a blog, but she also has a few spells, recipees, and a little collection of herbal lore.

I like reading about spells and such, but I don’t like speaking things out loud. I would feel goofy, that someone may be watching, that I would just do it all wrong, or that I don’t have the rite to do it. I’m just not cut out for spell weaving. So as for spells, it is fun just to study them rather then carry them out. Besides, I never have the large collection of spices that are needed for so many different spells. Someone should just make a book that has spells composed of common household spices like salt, pepper, thyme, mustard, Old Bay® Seasoning, A.1.® Steak Sauce, and Texas Pete® Hot Sauce.

My favorite hobby in the occult is to mostly stick with the tarot cards. It is a system of possible events. There are so many patterns and logical relationships between the cards. I like that. I am a very logical person. I don’t look to them to predict fortunes and such, but more to present multiple possibilities that I hadn’t thought of. I also love the artwork. I have so many tarot card decks that I stumble upon one every now and then that I had forgotten about.

I guess that a fortune teller would probably sit through a reading with you and tell you a few things. My activities would be similar to attending three or four consecutive sessions asking the same question. I would probably get a weird look from the person laying out the cards. Almost every spread of tarot cards would apply directly to you and your question. That’s just how the tarot seems to be setup. It’s up to you to open your mind to interpret how the information applies to your question. Every question has more then one answer. Even the same spread of cards coming up could always be interpreted differently as well. To me, the tarot is simply a method to help you think in different ways that you wouldn’t have thought of otherwise.

As far as real fortune telling goes - I leave that up to the professionals. I haven’t had any luck in it and it would be a little foolish for me to believe that I could pull something off like that.
