23 MB of Freedom
So the three of us (Cat, Angel, and I) got into the car and headed on over to my mother in-laws house. We arrived and Mom was cooking dinner. She then proceeded to hand out Tiki guys out to everyone. She said when ever I was down, I could just look at the big smile on his face and be happy. I knew just the place that I would put it when I got home.
After she fed the kids, she called my name first and showed me a plate of steak. The thing was two inches thick and looked to be the size of a Sunday roast. I asked if this was just for me or if we were all going to share it. It was just big.
Diner was great. I ate the potato salads first. Mom went ahead and got a second kind called deviled potato salad. It was good. I had to hold myself back from getting seconds. Angel couldn’t finish her food so I grabbed her mushrooms.
My brother in-law got some fireworks this year and started showing them off. He got a few that went up in the air and we were impressed. My neice was particularly interested in the box of four dragon cars. They weren’t lighted until later in the night. She had been asking us to do the dragon cars for the next hour.
This year I stayed back and recorded most of the different fireworks. I usually take turns with my brother in-law, but this year my nephew got to get in on the fun and excitement. The neighbors started getting my attention with very big fireworks exploding in the sky. I hunted them down and got some good videos of them going off.
I had to keep the videos small because the cameras memory card can only hold so much. My wife and I are starting to think about getting a camcorder that has firewire or USB support. But that is just a dream for now. After a night of fun, all of the images and videos came down to 23 MB.
Tonight was one of the greatest independence days that I’ve had. It was also a very happy anniversary for my wife and I.
