Your Card Is Restricted

So I took the day off work today. Ever since I got home last night, I’ve been sleeping. I’ve woken up for an hour or two, but then it is rite back to bed. Something is wrong with me and I think it is more then depression …

Any how, Angel comes into my room at 7PM to wake me up and get her allowance. We run off to the store to pick up a few supplies for the house. I swipe my card and it is denied. I know I put in the rite numbers. I try a few more times and then I try it as a credit card. Finally I tell the cashier that I want to go use the ATM that is setting close by. It spits back the following

YOUR CARD IS RESTRICTED
CONTACT YOUR BANK

I am confused because today is payday. Angel is fuming mad and I am just baffled. I checked my bank account and sure enough, there is over $1,500.00 available for me to spend. I call the number on the back of my card and the woman can only tell me that the account was closed at the request of the bank and that I would have to walk into the branch.

I’ll admit - I am usually in the negative figures when payday rolls around. Just before I got paid, I was closing in on negative $500.00. About $200.00 are my over draws and the rest is bank fees for doing so. Reminds me of a loan shark I tell ya. A $10 purchase ends up being $42.00.

This has been going on for over seven years, so I am boggled as to what justification these guys had that was any different then any other time. My mother in-law had an idea that shed some light on the situation. I’m not sure if I believe in it, but at least it is something. The last time my card was used, it was used by my wife. This was the first time that she used it. Mom said that they probably noticed it wasn’t me in the photo at the ATM and that my wifes name isn’t on the account.

So tomarrow I’ll have to wake up good and early and find out what is going on with my account. I have a mortgage payment out there that I don’t want to have any problems with.

Your MIL may be correct. I used to work at a bank for several years, and banks make their money off of those overdrafts fees and such. When they’re collecting those sorts of fees from you, why would they want to close your account and lose all the $$ they were getting from you? I hope things turn out okay.
