Back in October, I got on a weight loss plan at LA Weight Loss. I was pretty optimistic about it and was happy to see the pounds comming off. My goal was to lose 76 pounds by July 7th.
Well, suffice to say, I am no longer on the plan. I starting having some problems with the staff. Here are the main points that I see that I didn’t like about the plan.
- Hidden costs – LA Lites, Dietary Supplements, Bloodwork
- Controlling – Had to show up three times a week
- Hours of Operation – I was just barely getting in the door before they locked up
- Alternating Staff – I would have much preferred to see the same person rather then explaining the same story every time
- Preperation of food – I spent hours measuring, preparing, and cooking food each day.
- Only 1 goal – The only goal was to reach 200 pounds and lose weight.
- Expensive – They wanted all the money ($7/week) up front for the entire duration of the plan.
- Forgetful Protocol – Staff would forget to take blood pressure, measure arms, stomach, chest
- Left Out – I couldn’t eat with my co-workers due to the places they would eat out
- Confusion – Never knowing if it was safe to eat things not on the list provided
- Unfamilliar Foods – most items on the Red Plan were things that I never heard of and couldn’t find.
- Time – It just took so much time to do the dieting. There is more to it then just eating.
- Depression – I’m overall a very depressed person in the winter and when finances are low.
- Expensive food – Meat costs lots of money, and this plan had a lot of meat on it.
I had this steady feeling that I shouldn’t give up. I’m always being challenged by my wife and family that they think I’m going to give up on everything quickly. I kept with it pretty good and lost about 50 pounds. Just as I was going off of it, my Mother In-Law went on it. I think she feels betrayed and I feel guilty about it.
I feel pretty betrayed by the LA Weight Loss people. My primary concern when I first started was the ease of the plan and preperation of foods. I told them that I just needed to be able to nuke something and go. They eased my concerns and told me that it wasn’t a problem. From day one I was cooking on the stove. The microwave was only used at work to reheat my meals.
I went into the doctors office today and I’m up to 270 pounds. Everything that I worked towards was for nothing. You know how bad that makes me feel? It’s not good.

I can tell you, the only way that really makes sense is to have multiple (5-6) small somewhat balanced meals per day. I would even eat a half a chicken breast as late as 30 minutes before bedtime. Made me sleep easier.
I personally like to have a half of grilled chicken breast and a half of backed potato for four of those meals with a nice steak and baked potato or rice for dinner. For breakfast (I try not to skip as it gets your metabolism going in the morning) usually is 3 eggs (1 full egg and two egg whites) along with a slice of cracked whole wheat toast with butter or a good bowl of oatmeal.
The chicken is easy to grill up and put in small dishes to shove into the microwave. I usually grill ten pounds or so at a time and yes, many times with good BBQ sauce.
When you keep a regular schedule of meals and make sure that they are small and frequent, your metabolism builds so that when you do blow it (and everyone does now and then), it is like spitting on a raging fire, it does no harm.
It is a lot easier to resist temptations when you have some food already in you.
Well I love Lewie no matter what.. bigger or smaller.. I myself have lost allot of weight also but i wasnot on any spesiofic diet.. i simply removed allot of the sugar and access carbs. *no i’m not an atkins meat freak. i still eat when i am hungery and not when i am not.. Mostly i try to stay well hydrated.. tho i am not at my goal weight i am smaller now then i was when Lewie Met me. Something for me to feel good about.. The only thing i can do for Lewie is love him reguardless of his weight. and my mother didn’t last to long on the plan . not even as long as Lewie did and she tended to cheat. Something lewie didn’t do. She also had problems with the staff and eventualy gave up the diet.
