Late Night Flat

I wash shopping with my nephew today and called home to see if Angel wanted any other kind of lean pockets since they didn’t have any with cheese burger. She went with broccili and cheese. Angel proceeded to inform me that my sister in-law and her significant other got a flat just down the road from the house.

From there I got in line. Lines were long and open registers were lacking. At one point, I was told that the woman in front of me was the last person to be served. I found another line. A woman who had been further behind me got the manager and was back in line. The manager allowed her and another woman back in line. I was not happy.

It took a while to get up to the register in the second line. I noticed my ice cream was melting. The cashier turned to me and asked a rehtorical question “Don’t these guys know that I’m closed?”. I was shocked. He then told me that I was ok since I had all of my groceries up on the conveyor belt.

So I arrive at home an hour since I spoke to Angel on the phone. The two of us left in search of her sister. We missed the road the first time and turned around. It was hard to read the road signs this late at night and niether of us had our glasses. We found the road and shortly there after found the car with its blinking lights.

They asked for a jack, I brought it out along with my spare tire. Everyone was pleased that I had one. Brandon jacked the car up and the jack fell back. I asked if the emergency brake was on. The answer was “No” and my sister in-law ran to turn it on. Angel looked around and found a brick to put behind the back tire.

Brandon got the car jacked up again and took the tire off. He spent some time trying to get the spare on, but it just wouldn’t fit. The holes were just a little too close to the axel. We put both my spare and his tire in the trunk and went in search of a garage.

Wal-Mart didn’t have a garage and told us to go on over to the 24 hour wal-mart near the mall. We checked out a few gas stations with garages on the way over but none of the garages were open.

When we arrived at the other Wal-Mart, we couldn’t find any tires. I asked if we could buy something to fill the leak from the inside. Brandon mentioned Fix-A-Flat and we both went in search of it. Five minutes later I found him with the can in his hand.

We got back and the two girls were waiting for us. While Brandon put his tire back on the car, I noticed that Angel didn’t have her shoes on. She had left them at the house.

Once the tire was back on, the jack was removed and Brandon inflated the tire with the can of Fix-A-Flat. Angel was amazed that the can was actually inflating the tire with the weight of the car on it. A bunch of the foam came out rite where the stem meets the tire. That was the leak.

Once all of the foam was used, we had a problem. There was plenty of air comming out at the base of the stem. Brandon tried holding it for a few minutes but the sealent wasn’t sealing it.

Angel went into my car and found a black ribbon. Her sister tied the ribbon around the stem and the rim of the tire. Oddly enough it worked. We drove home without any problems.
