Google becomes a portal
The news is buzzing that Google is now offering services found in most portal solutions. I tried it out myself. I like the part that shows movies in my area. I’m not much for stocks or weather. The Gmail part wasn’t working properly so I can’t give any opinion about that.

These guys claim that they are not a portal, but with this kind of personalization it appears that they are.

Gmail works for me, you have to be logged in for it to function right. I still think there lacking on the eye beautification of it like my.yahoo.com pages.

My Gmail worked too. I think it will be pretty good once they offer more options for customization.

I had signed in before, but it was unavailable. My GMail is working now as well. I guess it was a bug.

I always thought a portal was a site similar to this, but exposing assorted business or organization services through these little portlets.
Google just looks like they are letting you customize a common set of basic queries. Its like what Yahoo and MSN has been doing for a few years now.
