Walkabout
Listen as I walkabout through the woods behind my house. I take a visit to dead mans curve and to my private swimming area.
The cool thing about where I live is there’s a lot of woods nearby
rite behind my house there’s a lot of paths that I can take to get
through them and uh … just go around in circles. it’s pretty cool.
alright … some of the problems is you walk through the woods
and all you see is trash everywhere. Old mufflers, rusted bedrails
uh … refrigerators, couches just … whatever. I’ve even seen a
few old cars back here too. Actually there is one area if you walk
to the edge of this cliff you see so much junk down there I like to
think that its dead mans curve because uh … my parents used to
love to play … this little record all the time I guess it was there
favorite song They’d also call it into the radio station some guy
would uh … go to fast and go over the edge of the curve
I look down this hill and I see … cars and … well mostly cars
but a lot of junk too. So … thats why I keep thinking about it
it’s uh… where the road bends on a cliff just like the song
Now shortly later I’ll be able to get to the uh … the little private
swimming hole. It’s really nice its just about as deep as I am
maybe uh… its almost six feet deep. Here we are at dead mans curve I see some spare tires washing
machine. Looks like somebody just threw a refrigerator down there
lately its not rusted or anything. cinderbricks, lots of uh … roof
shingles and uh … I think I see a toolbox down there uh … an old
kitchen stove … uh … it looks like a little geotracker or something
down there too Its just a whole heap of rusted metal I can see
outlines of spare tires … under the undergrowth around the area
but uh … I can’t see the tires themselves. Actually I see some
of them sticking up like a lockness monster … one after the other.
it’s kinda funny And then just at the edge of this pile is this lone tree
it’s a dead tree just sticking up out of everything oh well … lots of
broken glass, beer cans of course looks like someone was burning
something here. ah … an old hard drive. 255.9 MB by Western Digital
I see 9 heads. “Warranty void if removed”. What’s this? Here is a uh …
looks like one of those converters between a … small ps2 port
and a larger keyboard ports. Looks like you could still use it.
It’s uh … I guess the high-tech junkies came back here too.
Something you plug into a CD-ROM the audio cord that you plug
into your soundboard and CD-ROM a couple of SCSI/IDE cables
What the heck is going on I usually don’t see computer junk back here
Here’s a speaker A keyboard key says the letter “G” Welp, I think I see
the computer down there too that they threw off the side. Well …
I didn’t know the high-tech junkies were starting to participate in
polluting the earth or what not. Aye yi-yieMy wife showed me this place I tried looking for it once before I
knew where it was I got lost back here for maybe two hours Then
I found a way out somewhere else and I still hadn’t found her or
her spot then she took me one day and went for a nice swim
It’s a nice private little area Just hang out there. Then I think
some guy was off roading nearby and he took his truck in and
got caught up in the mud. We tried to help him out but it was
more like he needed a wench or something. we got boards and
stuck them under his tires It didn’t help. We tried to call some
friends to help him out but nobody was available. I don’t know
what happened to him. But … the guys truck wasn’t really for
off roading like that. His tires wern’t raised up. You could tell
it was a new truck. I don’t know much about off roading myself
but it didn’t seem like he should have been there.
I think he was more just exploring. Just saw something
going off the road into the woods and took off the main
road. See where it would take him.At least the woods aren’t crowded with too much junk
back here. It would be nice if it wasn’t junked up
at all. I guess you have to go to a park or something
if you don’t want to see trash in the woods because
natural woods are just riddled with trash these
days unless they are protected, then you don’t have
trash. Here’s a nice little spot I like. There used to be a small
table down here but somebody took it away. Nice little
babbling brook there. Little rapids. Sometimes I’ll just come
down here and sit against a tree and just listen to the water.
Water is a little low this time of year. I don’t think it’s rained
lately. Which could be part of it. Actually you could cross
the water in some parts without getting your feet wet. Here’s another car that looks like its crushed. It’s just
got its rims just sitting on the side of this little dirt roadway here.
Usually I hear little ATVs down here. I can’t hear nothing.
No motercycles, no cars, none of those little 3 or 4 wheelers.
And here is yet another rusted vehicle. Let’s see. I think this
is our little spot here. Yep. Some of the trees have been cleared or
something. The water is definately lower rite now. We have
a little beach here. Wich is pretty nice. You just get out of
the water and your feet, you don’t have to worry about
stepping on sharp things once you get out. Its a little cloudy
but you can see pretty clear. A lot of branches and stuff in there.
Here’s an old hollow tree. You could probably put a
little geocache in here. A lot of these trees seem to be a lot older
then most trees that I see in my town and a lot bigger. It
just adds to that sense of that theres a lot of undocumented
history so to say. I remember being more hidden back here.
Somebodys definately moved something. It was bushes
back here or … I don’t know.Let’s take a look at this car back here. Some of this stuff
must be copper because I see a lot of green on the wires.
The engines pretty much dull gray but like little caps and
screws are rusted orange all over it. Everythings just bent
on in pretty bad. There is like no interior except for metal.
Oh, here is a sewage drain or some kind of drain. Has a big
letter “I” on it. You know, vegitation is still not here just yet
so that must be it. I dont’ remember this but there are a lot
of little trees around it, but I see a lot of little trees around it
that would definately cover it. Let’s see if I can get a picture
