The thing about podcasts
I’ve started going around listening to what podcasts are all about. I am finding that most have small clips of music throughout them. You’ll hear an audio clip, then the author comes on and talks. They take small breaks (30 - 60 seconds) and continue. Some have the music continue in the background. And then at the end, the podcast ends with another audio clip.
Podcasts tend to be long. They range between thirty minutes to an hour. So I can see why the music is there. I can’t stand listening to myself talk for a half hour. I need a break.
So over the next few days, I’ll be doing lots of research with audio posts and podcasts. One thing that I have found is that podcasts can’t be played on iPods. This really goes against the name “Pod Cast” doesn’t it? It appears that there are problems with DRM (Digital Rights Management). iPods don’t play MP3 files. They play a different kind of proprietary audio file.
Another problem I’m having is that I can’t get my blog listed on audo.weblogs.com. This service lets other services know that there is a new audio post out there on the blogosphere. It’s like a form of advertising for potential listeners.

Wow, you’re really branching out into the A/V stuff, huh? Cool.

I’m primarily going after the audio aspect of things. There was an option to do video on audiobloger.com so I decided to check it out while I was there.

IPods DO play MP3 files as well as a bunch of other formats, so you can listen to podcasts on them.
