I’m just going through some old pictures on my hard drive and sending them over to my flickr account. I found one of my old employee pass for Winchester Amusement Co.
After that, I found one of the worst public photos of me from a news paper clipping. That’s me on the left pulling the chains out for each of the seats on the Yo-Yo swing ride.
It was fun to see how all the rides were assembled and disassembled. On the last night of the carnival, we would disassemble everything and set it up at the next location – all in one night. I would be worn out by time the sun came up.
The inside of the Yo-Yo had a greesy ladder that I had to climb up. I then had to turn a valve to release the hydrolic pressure. I am extreamly scared of heights. The slivers of metal combined with the greese on the ladder didn’t help much as my hands would be in pain from gripping too tight out of fear.
For $75 per week, this was the first job that I had after I came back from college. Yea, I was sitting up at nights in my tent and really hateing life. I couldn’t make it in college, and I felt like I couldn’t make it here either.
After that job, my mom helped me get a job at the chicken factory over in Moorefield, West Virginia. That place was a night mare. It was a literal Slaughter House.

This comment has nothing to do with this entry, but I just noticed your stats counter, and found it EXCELLENT! hahah
) Thx for the congrats btw
**cheers**
We didn’t have a side-show. They just aren’t politically correct anymore. We just had lots of rides, food boths and places for people to lose money trying to win a prize.
Wow, I never met a real life (or an ex) carney before. Did you get to meet the bearded lady?
