Five cents? I've heard a lot of things, but never that a collection agency would go after someone for five cents. After all, it costs hundreds of dollars just to hire on of these people.

Wal-Mart sells some shoddy products. I bought a lavalamp from them that exploded and caused $560 worth of damage. They paid in full, but I didn't see those lavalamps there the next time I stopped by.

-Steve
Games are for Children

I always figure that they give accounts to collection agencies in bulk. My brother would complain to them that it costs them more to just talk to him then if he gave them the 5 cents - which he didn't actually owe. It turns out they owed him and they decided to just drop the case.

Watch out for false charges on your credit card, then - It's possible someone inside the company is validating cards to prepare for charging them, stealing them for some other purpose...

Of course, I'm a paranoid S.O.B....
