I got a credit card

Although I have a very nice and well paying job, I have not been able to get a “real” credit card for a long time. I have been pre-approved for offers before, and with strange wording, I have even been approved for “offers”. However, today - I was approved for a credit line of $200. I wonder what helped me out.

I have had credit problems ever since my student loans went into default. The loans have been paid off for a few years now, but the consequences of going into default have been hitting me hard as they still appear on my credit report. I think they stay there for about seven years after they have been paid off. I wish that I knew how to extend the pay-off time to prevent them from going into default status back then.

I had once walked into a car dealership to purchase my Dodge Neon 2000 back in 1999. I agreed to pay half that day, and the other half the following day. The guys wouldn’t let me drive the car off the lot until the next day when I showed up with the other half. Bad credit has been plaguing me ever since I left college.

This couldn’t come at a better time. With the many fees that I have been paying out with my most recent paycheck and the next pay check, I have been wondering how I would be able to make it. My mother in-law just purchased us groceries because we were so low on funds. I canceled all payments on my next check to afford our lawyers fees. A credit line of two hundred dollars can actually go a long way in my current situation.

Congratulations! The best way to keep good credit is to pay off the balance in its entirety every month.

Be wary, credit cards can easily get out of control. You might start with one but you could end up like me with 3 cards loaded to the credit limit and wondering how I can pay them all off
