Better then an iMac …
Ok, I had planned for this for a while. Most used PC’s that I pick up are around $300 - $400. However, I wasn’t looking for an iMac for everyday use. I just need it as a test envoronment for web pages. I get a few trouble shooting problems every now and then regarding some of my scripts that I’ve published - especially my upload script.
My goal was to find a really cheap iMac for $200 or less. I was finding them, but most were marked as spare parts or a fixer-upper. I stumbled upon this jewel that was an old power pc maxed out. $169.99 + $35 shipping.
This has both Mac OS 9.2.2 and Max OS X 10.2 Jaguar - most macs only had version 9. 10 is a plus, so now I can test web pages with the latest operating system.
Comes with a 10 GB hard drive. Most cheap macs were comming with 2 GB.
Includes 100MB Internal Zip drive. I don’t use my external zip drive much, but since I do have a few disks, this should make transporting files a bit easier between my PC machines and the Mac.
S-Video In/Out, Composite Video In/Out …. video editing perhaps?
256 MB Ram - most systems I was looking at had only 32MB. This is a big deal.
The only draw backs is the video output. I know other operating systems usually need different types of hardware connections. Just look at a Sun computers monitor connection. This computer mentions a Video Out of DB-15, but I have no idea if that is what IBM compatibles use or not. Sure, we have 15 pins, but I’m confused. Well, I have seen a lot of sites that offer adapters ranging from 10 to 35 dollars. Hopefully everything works out.
