Kerry Says Republicans Distorted His Record (washingtonpost.com)
Back and forth … back and forth. Bush and Kerry keep going at it. All of this “junk” keeps getting in the way of what is going on.
I’ve mainly heard of Kerry’s plans of what he wants to do when he gets into office. One thing that I find interesting is his take on healthcare. In short … if I go to the hospital for a life-threatening (or critical) operation of sorts, then the government will pick up the tab. Because of this, it is free for me and my insurance policy. This in effect lets the insurance companies relax and eventually lower its premiums since they will not have to distribute the large charges for big operations.
I currently have 2 problems with Bush. Bush is aggressively attacking gay rites in regards to marriage. He is litterally trying to pass a bill to make sure this rite will never be permitted. Already there are laws making this impossible for the country as a whole to acknowledge gay marriage. States are permitted to recognize this as they see fit. Problems arrise when a gay couple move to another state, and then latter have a divorce. Although I am not gay or bisexual, I do see an injustice when someone moves to pass a bill restricting rites based on sexual orientation.
The second problem I have with bush is the war. Afganistan was ok. When I started hearing about Iraq, I couldn’t believe it. Then all this hoopla came about with possible weapons of destruction, and problems with the UN. If we did not attack Iraq, then today would be no different then when Bush came into office. Saddam was not going to attack us.
Our forces are limited. The army is now drafting people who have been out of service for over ten years and haven’t fired a weapon since. We can’t keep this up. And Bush’s policy seems to be that he wants to keep going and take the war to the terrorists. He is quickly running out of resources and man power. We need this to stop. The USA needs to recoup. We need stability and certainty.
Anyway … who knows. I may change my viewpoint later on down the road. It seems that Kerry is full of ideas of an enlightened future and Bush is full of anger and determination.
